CABJ Startup Grant
We are grateful to our financial sponsor, TD Bank, for their generous support of this program. It’s because of this support that we’re able to offer five $5,000 startup grants to program participants.
Please read through the instructions below carefully, and be sure to upload all necessary documents before submitting your application package.
CRITERIA:
Be confirmed by the CABJ as an Media Startup Bootcamp graduate who has completed all nine courses;
Register your platform/company as a sole proprietorship, corporation or nonprofit in Canada;
Have no marital or immediate familial relationship* with a current member(s) of the CABJ Board of Directors, Executive Team or Startup Boot Camp team;
Proactively declare any current or past friendships, mentor/mentee relationships or business partnerships with a current member(s) of the CABJ Board of Directors, Executive Team or Startup Boot Camp team;
ATTACHMENTS
A detailed business plan (including budget projections) on the launch and development of your platform, which includes target audience, journalistic focus and marketing plan. The plan should focus on outcomes: how is this platform going to help the community?

A personal essay (1500 words maximum) explaining why you’re launching a digital startup

Two recommendation letters
Change the file names to follow this format: FirstNameLastName_RecommendationLetter1, FirstNameLastName_RecommendationLetter2
Applicants must be prepared to present their startup concept to a jury in the form of a 15-minute presentation, with slides provided at least one week in advance. Applications open on November 26, the last day of classes, and close January 15, 2022.
